History
Distressed by the state of education in Pakistan, a group of critically conscious and passionate citizens decided to form a platform through which the challenge of illiteracy could be addressed. The first school was established in 1994, with 65 students at Umer Goth, Gadap Karachi. With limited resources and a staunch commitment to the cause as well as the motivation of the communities, GCT strikingly progressed and established a network of schools benefiting thousands of children. Today, Green Crescent Trust has managed to launch 155 schools and has around 28,000 students enrolled.
